Ithaka: One Of The Most Iconic Voices In House Music

(Yesterday in L.A.) Surprise, epic performance by master DJ and music author Bill Brewster aka @bill_brewster - at a private afternoon party hosted by Acid Camp Records. The last time I saw Bill was in Manchester in November of '96 where we were working on a project together for Twisted Records U.K. - Bill is one of the most knowledgable individuals on the art of DJing in the world. If you don't own his book "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life My Life" (co-written with Frank Broughton) check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/Last-Night-DJ-Saved-Life/…/0802146104 - AND also subscribe to his weekly DJ History radio podcast program, it rocks: https://soundcloud.com/…/dj-history-podcast-451-bill-brewst…

  • "You may not recognize him but @_ithaka_ has one of the most iconic voices in house music. He is an #american artist who was living in #portugal in the 90s and lent his poetry to a track called So Get Up by Underground Sound of Lisbon, a massive hit in clubs back then and an anthem at the #soundfactory. It’s been sampled elsewhere countless times including #stretchandvern. In 1998, when I was working at #twisteduk i brought him over to the UK to work on an artist album with #manchester producer Si Brad. Spent a day in the studio laying all the vocals down and Si was instantly coming up with great ideas for it. Sadly the album never happened but we somehow stayed in touch and the reunion was complete when he came to @psychicbody_music and @acidcamp’s amazing party on Sunday. Great to see you mate x"  #losangeles#djculture #djlife #dj #djhistory#undergroundsound
